Hi fellas I have a question that I need an answer on pretty quick if I am too score these rims and tyres.

they are 17x7 4x114.3 lugs not sure about cb but the off set is only 38. the tyres are 95% and all up $500.

I have been looking for solutions for ever and would like to get a few replies regarding the off set. the tyres are 215 45 r17

They came off a 1999 hyundia sonata.

Wheels are Enkei BXME 17x7 Alloy Wheels

Oh well was a good buy but from what I have read 38 off set won't cut it (or more likely will cut it) looks like +40 minimum with +42 prefered . Damn I am getting bloody frustrated, I don't want stock 195's they just slide all over the place when I take off and that is being extremely careful with the throttle. winter is here and my tyres are nackered. poop.

They should fit fine , like you said the offset is just out side of what you would want. Plus I don't think that's the right tires size too.

Not sure what you mean by "don't think that's the right tires size too." Are you talking about the 215's or the 195's?

I ran 38 mm on my Elantra GT back in the day and they were fine. But I had 16's. No rubbing.

Now with the 17's, it still should be ok but maybe a little tight with those tires as they are 1/2" bigger in diameter than stock.

205/45 would give you the closest size diameter to stock.

This little calculator is a wonderful thing...

Btw, have you done the rear sway bar upgrade to the 19mm one from a Tiburon GT? That upgrades the suspension more than any other single thing IMO.

Last but not least...

If you really were in love with a wheel/tire combo and you had some minor rubbing on load, you could always roll the fenders as a last resort.

Are yes I see what you mean now, it will throw off the speedo a bit as well, but if I can get use out of those tyres for a while it would be great then go back to 205's later down the track if I have issues. My car is not lowered and I don't carry any heavey loads or passengers in the back so maybe I will get away with it.

No I havn't done the sway bar yet but have read that it is a good improvement, but what year tiby are you talking about.
I am not sure the Aus got the GT version but will look further into it for sure.

It's not so much LOVE of the tyre and wheel combo lol, it is more a matter of urgencey and I have been looking for wheels flat out for months and they are as rare as hens teeth for seconds and new all up will cost $1200- 1400 which is not my cuppa tea.

so I though this combo being in good nick and good tyres for $500 was a very tempting deal.

I got him down to $480 so bugger it I am going to get them, can get a fender roll tool for about $85 new can't hire them here from what I can see, so fingers crossed. I did a photo shop and they look pretty good so if they fit I will be stoked.

I had 17x7's with 215/45 on my 02 sedan. My issues were the rears. Fronts were fine. I would rub the rears with a single passenger.

I had 17x7's with 205/45 on my '00 for like two days. They made my 100hp car feel like a 65hp car... So I sold them for a $50 profit.

Yeah I expect I will have to roll the rear guards but I will just have to suck it up.

I am suprised you say that as there isn't much difference in overall diameter with the setup you are saying from oem, I think my set up will be a problem with the larger size but I am 50 and so my rev head days are done, this weekend I will find out one way or the hard way.

Mad...

No worries on the J2/RD comment. He can be a bit of a sarcastic lad. wink.gif Over the years at EC, many members have had the 17" 205/45 combo and loved it. Yes, there will be more unsprung weight. But the look will be a huge upgrade from the stock 15's.

Genocider had one of the coolest EC cars ever. He ran 17's with 205/45.

If you roll the fenders, all should be OK.

OEM center bore is, I think, 67.1 mm.
