Okay - weird one for everyone.

My new 09 elantra se - factory alarm is installed of course.

anyways, I've tried different alarm fobs because I dont know what else the issue is, here goes.

I press disarm, lights blink 2x's and unlocks, pressing twice unlocks all doors.

When I go to arm the car, the lights used to blink and if I pressed arm twice lights would blink and horn would beep a short beep.

Now, all of a sudden unlock / disarm works fine but when I go to arm the system it looks like it did nothing, although it locks all the doors and such but no horn beep nor does the lights blink to show a visual arm.

any ideas?

brand new, no more than 3K on the car.

Trying to figure this one out, I know I got hyundai warrantee but if it is something stupidly simple Id rather do it than spend a bit of time going to hyundai and car in the shop grrr..

let me know what you think.

check all doors, trunk, and hood to make sure they are closed fully. My 02 won't blink the lights if any of that is open. One of the switches might be bad also. Check all that stuff and make sure they are closed. If it still isn't working right. Just take it to the dealer. It's free and it probably wouldn't take too long. I know my hyundai shop is pretty quick.

i have an 08 Elantra SE. yes the car will lock but not beep if anything is open. It won't even beep if the hood is open. soo check everything and try the alarm again. if it still doesnt work, i would take it the dealership. they will probably just reprogram it.

And even if it's open, make sure ALL the door locks have locked. You may have a lazy lock that doesn't always activate. Check all 4 doors after you try to lock it and see if one is open.

Played lets open and shut doors and open and close hood/trunk a million times during it's oil change today. No avail, actuators are all working, I locked the trunk while it was open with my finger then hit unlock and that worked too.

Pulled all fuses and checked - none blown.

It's going to hyundai some point this week - once I know the issue i'll pass it along for future reference.
