Well, if it worked for me I would use it.
I have tried on 3 different computers (all running Opera 11.01) and it does not work. Not sure what it is, since I have no other issues with Java. Well, I forgot I have the USB version of Opera (installs a little differently and can have issues with flash and java, had to use it at work since I can't install anything on that computer, and just copied it to all my computers).
