Hey Guys, I want to improve the suspension on my '14 GLS. As most of us already know, it's bouncy and sags too low when heavily loaded. I do a lot of camping trips (cargo box, bikes, kayaks) and carry supplies for work as well. I've read about replacing the shocks and adding a sway bar but its the springs that need to be stiffer too right? A few friends have told me to get coil overs. They have many benifits but I don't feel the need to spend a whole lot of money as I don't use this car to race. What would be the best economical solotion? Any body know of any cheap coil overs that would do the trick?

Not really, no. good coilovers are not cheap.

HOWEVER you can upgrade to a set of koni yellows from a veloster to add stiffness, and maybe a set of H&R or eibach springs. but at that cost you may as well go with the coilovers.

HSD and megan racing make coilovers for the car. Megan would be the cheapest.

Thanks for the reply. Iv'e looked up the Megan coilovers and the EZ Streets are thier cheapest ones. Anyone have any reviews?

-I'm guessing the Veloster and Elantra have many interchangeable parts?

as far as i know the elantra is a slightly longer basic chassis. the underpinnings are alike. the body and options are completely different... i'd be curious if the engines swap.

If I ever needed to I would deffinetly swap for a 1.6 turbo... wish they had that option for the elantra.. maybe one day.

Anyone here riding on Megans? or any coilovers? or have done any kind of suspension mods?

I'm racing on ksport coils and a pierce rear bar. Very effective combination. On stocks for the winter.

Same for me in the Forte. running the Veloster Ksports from Pierce Motorsports for autocross, and stocks with rear koni yellows for winter. The Forte and Elantra cannot use the Veloster Koni Yellows as our strut tubes are smaller. BUT... if you could get your hands on a pair of used Veloster struts, you're in business.

As for engine swaps... yes. The new Forte uses the Veloster drivertrain for their SX models, and they use the Elantra 1.8/2.0 in their EX/LX models. Love platform sharing sometimes!

Also... Optima SX front rotors and calipers are a bolt on affair to give us 12.6" front rotors (over the 11.8's we currently have).

The veloster turbo also has the big rotors and calipers.
