At another club I belonged to, we would race to greet the latest member to join. It would make the newest member feel welcomed and slightly stalked at the same time

Hey Swee, I like that idea. We do have a bunch that join and just lurk and never post. To me if you want to do it, I don't see any problem with it and think it would be a great way to greet new members!

I know there is a section of where you are supposed to introduce yourself, which is what I did whenever I joined but not everyone is as assertive

Haven't looked too deeply for the "Welcome Zone", so forgive my short sightedness. I just knew it would catch eyes if someone wrote your username in a subject line. Plus it adds a little more competetion. But I'm the new kid....
