Within about 2 weeks it has gone from $3.99/gal to about $3.59/gal. Hopefully it keeps going down!

QUOTE (popeye @ Jun 25 2013, 02:33 PM) *
Bottom line, we're stuck with the beast and we have to feed it if we want to play in it's yard.
You want freedom from that? Ride a goddamned bike.

Beast feeder leadfooters are the ones who are stuck. Feather footers play outside the boxed yard. For 30 years, I've driven cheap cars that get 50mpg or more(no diesel, no turbo-diesel, no hybrid).

In the Pacific Northwest here, with our predominately hydro & wind produced electricity, I'll do even better when cheaper EVs are produced with ranges of 200+miles. Get ready. They are coming & expensive ones have come already.

The future major problem with EVs is americans will still not be efficient drivers & will sap & zap the electrical infra-structure. Case in point:
Before I purchased Elantra, I was sure the mpg complainers were leadfooters & that is the case. Elantra has low torque(131 lbs-feet) & leadfooters can't stand that. My Epsilon Lyrae's first tank of real gasoline produced 43mpg. After 3 months I am averaging 39mpg.

If I'm working this out right, $3.70US/Gallon comes up to less than $1/Liter. That price hasn't been seen in Australia after the year 2000! Right now we're looking at an equivalent of $5.14/Gallon.

and then I found 5 bucks!

The Valero I fill up at is hovering around $3.27, but the Shell less than a mile away is $3.37. Shell probably has it priced higher to compensate for those who use Fuel Perks types of discounts eh? laugh.gif

I filled up last night at $3.499. It's been bouncing between that and $3.599 for the last week or so.
