Which is just further proof we can't save them if they don't want to save themselves.  Some IDIOTS cannot be helped

True! I changed the wording a bit... well one word.

crushing them is dumb... it costs the tax payers a lot to pay the crusher... the scrap metal only makes them like $20

they'd be better off hiring an "expert" to part out the cars and sell the pieces online (which would make the city a lot of money) OR donating the cars to local schools with shop programs?

or something. just seems like a waste.

They want to make an impression to deter others. I vote for the Yakuza gang members on motorcycles with machine guns method, ala Fast and the Furious.

Ya seriously, part out the good stuff and give the body to a junkyard, so people who do take it seriously and do the right thing, can still use the vehicle. I can see many 240s getting hurt this way. sad.gif

for me, the best "dont street race video" was watching a good friend of mine die literally in my arms as we waited for the amubulance to come when he decided to show off in his new car for my gf and myself in my car.

best part is that they make the offender and his/her parents stand there and watch it.

I would shoot something up if I was forced to stand and watch my car be crushed just because it is outfitted with some of the same parts and/or style that a lot of street racers used.

Now on the other hand, if I was actually street racing, got caught, and then forced to watch them crush the car.. that'd be a hard lesson to learn but it would be fairly warranted.

i believe they only do that if they catch you racing. many ppl have daily drivers that look like that but race legally at organized events, so they (the cops) cant crush the car if it just LOOKS like an 'illegal racer' tongue.gif

They really need to run that as a public service announcement here in Phoenix for sure. I think it is actually pretty week if you take into consideration how desensitized the public has become today with what you see on the News. If it isn't strong enough to stay in your memory you will not think twice on it just like on the news broad castes that change stories every 30 sec. Recently here in Phoenix there was a police chase being broadcast when two of the news helicopter collided killing all 4 on board. The news stations that were not in the incident barely gave it 24 hours before it was a side note to the local restaurant opening.

Just in case the video link doesn't work, a regular link to the Google video. Similar to the one in the first post; this time in French.
