port the throttle body to 58mm, port the intake manifold and install underdrive pulleys before any other modifications to the fuel system. they are a great source of power and are cheaper than the fuel tuner + injector swap. the XD's run extremely rich from the factory.
FWIW, i run full-bolt ons + nitrous and am still on the stock injectors. ive put almost 100hp worth of nitrous thru this motor on the stock injectors and that is when it finally started to run out of fuel. the fuel pump is more of an issue than the injectors are.
