I recently bought my new Black Diamond 2015 Elantra SE, after the silver one that I had planned buying was sold. I've noticed that my car doesn't have the matte finish trim applique that the other colors do in the lot at work (mine is the only MD/UD black one here). I looked at another on a dealer webpage near here, and it didn't look to have that trim, either. It doesn't stand out much, as it's the right color already, but the difference in texture compared to the plastic triangle that fills out the window shape does stand out a bit. I can see them cutting that out on black cars, maybe, but I wanted to make sure. Is it normal for the black ones to only have paint on the window frames?

as far as i can tell on hyundais the upper trim levels get the "glossy trim"

my '14 base VT has matte trim while the ultimate package gets glossy.

No, my car doesn't have any trim applique around the windows at all. They're the same as the paint on other parts of the car. Every other color of Elantra definitely has matte finish there, but it seems that mine as well as some others only have the paint. Looking at pics online, black MDs had the trim at the time the car debuted and was in a lot of press pictures.

I think that it's supposed to be that way. The 2014 that C&D tested was a Limited and visibly doesn't have the matte trim in their pictures.
