People have often asked me what our "average" member age is. It might be fun for every member to post their age and then we can kinda average it out after everybody posts. Let's see how this goes.

The ElantraClub community is just that. A community. We're not Twitter or Facebook where it's all about you. It's important that member realize they need to help the community they're a part of.
So... what the heck does that mean?
Basically, when you join EC there are three things all of you should do.
Number one... fill out your profile fully from your "My Controls" area. You'll see this under the "Personal Profile" heading. Why is this a big deal? Well, the simple answer is, it may just help when you ask your questions. Knowing your car model or where you're located might get you a better answer. Seeing your age or sex might change the way someone answers your question.
Number two... add your car (or cars as you can have up to 3) to our Garage. You're at a car club right? VIP's can add pics but all members can add all their basic info and mods.
Number three... pin yourself to our Member Map. It's a great way to see where people are located at a glace. Fun too. You don't need to put a pin on your house or anything just your town.
So that's a start.
All members should do these three things.Beyond that we need more members adding to our Photo Gallery or writing product Reviews or adding to our Wiki but I'll save that for another topic.

The age thread is getting to be a bit long, so I was wondering what the distribution of ages is for the club. So, vote for your age, and since it's anonymous, you don't have to worry about your vanity!

Here at ElantraClub, we've got a lot of things. Some are tangible (the arcade, DIY, etc) and some are not (camaraderie, helpfulness, etc).
But how can we help you if we don't know where you are? Thus, the Member Map!
Feel free to add yourself and see who all is in your area. Not only does it help when it comes to meetups, but we've had one-on-one help happen many times too! You may not have the tools or the knowledge, but you want to learn? Find a member near you and maybe you can work out some sort of meet-n-greet on a small scale.
If you'd like to view the map, go here:
Member Map!To add yourself to the map, there's a drop-down arrow in the upper right of the map with a 'My Marker' option. Or, use this convenient link:
My Marker - ElantraClub Member MapIf you'd like to talk about the map, your location, or what's in your area, use the thread linked below.

((Sorry, I posted in the Newbie forum, but I probably should've posted this here))
I got my car a few months ago. So far I really like it. The Hyundai warranty made the sale a no brainer. Every time I even begin to regret not getting a Civic, I just think of the many more years and miles of coverage I get with Hyundai. I made a 500+ mile trip from SC up to DC and ended up not having to refuel. 44mpg, and that is including heavy traffic in and near DC. I find the car to be really quiet and smooth on the road, and the turbo has a nice pick up to it. It is also comfortable for the most part. It is taking me a while to figure out all of the technology as far as the android auto, and other things. This is surprising because I am pretty savvy with that stuff, but this isn't exactly intuitive. If I commit more time to it, I'd probably be better with it, but I'm typically in the car to drive it, not play with the tech.
One complaint I have is that there really isn't a comfortable place to rest my left arm. I'd typically put my elbow on the window, but the thin ledge doesn't allow for that. And the "rest" on the door is too low. Something I am still getting used to. I ended up buying a 3rd party product call the Arm 'Restler or something. It helps, but it isn't perfect. I may end up designing something on my own. I'd really like to be able to have something to rest that arm on during long trips. Also, I am a little over 6' tall, so there isn't much room above my head either.
I hope to get some advice on the forum. Good to be here.

Hi, y'all
I'm new to the club, but not to Elantras.
I traded off a well-used 2010 Elantra GLS (161,000 miles) on a 2016 Elantra GT with a few miles on it (13000). I just bought the car from a dealer last week, so I'm still getting accustomed to it.
I've already made my first purchase for it: A set of Voxx Ventura wheels. They are certainly a nice upgrade from the stock wheel covers (my car is the base GT).
I've had my eye on the Elantra GT model for quite awhile now, a I've finally got one. I like the idea of the hatch, and fold down seats, to be able to put my bicycle in, and go to riding events.
Have a great day, everyone!

Well, I didn't read my welcome PM immediately, kinda blinded by my own excitement. I made my welcome post in a different subforum before realising this section was here (and pointed out to me).
SO, please enjoy this succinct link to my much longer and more elaborate post here:

Hi all, I just bought a 2014 Elantra Active model and really like it. I came from an ix35 so am keeping with the Hyundai cars. I am looking at swapping out the stereo system with a Clarion branded system so I can get the Apple carplay experience. I am from Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
Thank you for having me.

Hello everyone,
I have never been involved with a club before so have patients with me. I just bought a 2005 elantra to get me back and forth to work. I now have a hour ride to and from work and could use better gas mileage then my F150.
I do need to make a couple small repair before the inspection. I am looking for a OME replacement steering wheel. The previous owner peeled the foam from the top of the steering wheel down to the bare metal. I could use some help trying to find some online parts distributors or swap meets. My searches could only find steering wheel covers. Any information would be helpful.

New here, my Elantra is a 2013 GLS, rolled off the lot brand new with only 2 miles on it. Have not as of yet had a single problem with it (45,000 miles), I enjoy doing temporary custom colors to it, many friends love what I've done up to now, any other ideas to show off what can be done ? Here are some pics of what I've done so far...

Hi everyone. I'm Cliff and I live halfway between Richmond and Suffolk, Virginia, which happens to be way out in the middle of nowhere.
Just picked up a gray 2013 Elantra sedan GLS on Saturday. Manual transmission, no navigation, no fog lights, no auto-headlights, no bluetooth or steering wheel audio, but I plan to upgrade all that with factory parts to make it all look and work as if they were all original options.
This is my second Hyundai; the first was a 1994 Excel hatchback with a manual transmission. Loved that little car and reluctantly sold it with only 220K miles.
Other changes I have thought about for the car are possibly upgrading the suspension as it feels a little softer in turns that I like, tint the glass and maybe get alloy wheels instead of the steel that are on it now. The speakers absolutely need to be replaced as they factory ones sound somewhat like mud compared to the CDT components that I had before.
So far, I am averaging between 40 and 44 mpg, which is quite nice and is around the same as I was getting with the 2012 Chevy Sonic LT, 1.8L, manual transmission, which I traded in to get this car.
Getting this car really helped. Even with the small amount of negative equity transferred from the previous loan, my new monthly payment is actually less than it was on the Sonic.
I am quite pleased with the car and am getting to like it more as time passes.
Looking forward to reading all the good information on the site and getting answers to any bumps that may come my way.
Cliff

I've known about this place for a while, but having to have an account to view posts made me make the account, and now that I have one I might as well participate. Looking for ways to improve my 05 manual transmission for my enjoyment.

Hello everyone! I'm a new guy here so I figured i'd introduce myself.
I've always been a Ford guy, but I got an '01 Elantra GT Hatch for free from my sister and the more I drive it the more I like it. It is very rotted though, so I'm going to use it as a donor engine for another GT Hatchback in better shape (and manual). I've never messed with a 4 cylinder so I think it will be a fun project. I really like how these 2.0's run

Hello all! My name is Matthew, and I just recently purchased a new 2016 Elantra SE (breaking the historical Toyota lineage of the family.. ha ha). Loving it so far! I'm very excited to be a part of a community where I can share questions and concerns relevant to the car, and maybe answer some about my own ride. Hoping to keep this short, yet somewhat sweet but I hope you all have a good day.

Hello Everyone!
My name is Max Kulik and it ended up being that my first car is a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS. I really liked the car and I feel it's really fun to work on because it can sometimes be a challenge to find aftermarket parts for it. I'm planning on doing many mods to my car and I will be sure to share them on the forums here as I go along!

Also does anyone know how I could get at least one or two more photo albums on my account?
Thanks in Advance
Max

So I'm here to see what nice mods can be done that would not "upset" her. (No loud exhausts or induction sounds from a CAI.)
Her car cost $18,850. form Henderson Hyundai here in the 'Vegas valley. It's a great buy considering she has a lot more on her car than I got in my 2013 Toyota Prius v wagon at $24,400.
We've had it on trips from 'Vegas to LA and get at least 37 + miles per gallon. We're both amazed. One trip was even 38.2 mpg.
I got her some stainless door bottom bright strips from CARiD and will put them on soon.
Then Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlight bulbs and maybe some LED interior lights.

After being left beside the road with only 40,000 miles on a 2013 Focus SE (broken motor mount), I made the jump to a Hyundai. Bought a 2015 Elantra SE. She gave me 39 miles per gallon between Atlanta, GA and Eufaula, AL today! (Live in Ozark, AL) Couldn't pass up the warranty and good reviews. My neighbor has owned several and was glad to see I bought one. ~Ed
