Well do ya?! We have some of the best features that set this "club" apart for other forums. We have our very own
wiki,
reviews, and
diy. If you have installed something or have input on a product please make it known. We have an awesome arcade with tons of game that is available to all paid members which is an extra bonus that you can't find on most sites. Start a wiki about a project you're working on, review a set of tires you love, or a new great car washing soap you have used. If your going to buy anything offline please stop by the
affiliate mall, I bet your store is there. The profits will help keep this awesome one of a kind club going. After that, stop by the garage and add your vehicle or update your
garage.
It's a great place to keep everyone up to date on what you have done to your car.
If you have found this site useful (which I'm sure you have) please be kind and
donate, even if it's only a few dollars, every little bit counts to keep this site afloat.

TO: New members and current ones. RE: 100% updated profiles & utilization of our features. We constantly have new
members joining and also have active
members in our
community that do not complete their information nor utilize our features. We need people to visit their control panel and update all of their information. By updating your profile you become a
community member as opposed to another visitor. The more active users and updated profiles – the better off this
community is. People do hit-n-runs all the time but every single time the response to the original poster is "what's your location?" or "what make and model is it?" Every single bit of this can be curbed by filling out your information.
Below are links to do this.
Edit Profile Information Edit Personal Portal Information Edit Signature Change Custom Title Edit Avatar Settings Change Personal Photo ---------------------------------------
Member Map This is another great feature we have. Thinking of a
member meet up? Who's in my area? Who can help me fix this? – you can get all of this information in one single place – our
member map!
Member Map --------------------------------------
Garage List your vehicle in the Garage today. Share what you drive with the
club and show what toys and modifications you have done. The Garage is a very useful tool for showcasing your ride. It also is a great way to check out available aftermarket mods and get some valuable insight. It's very important that all club
members add their vehicle to the garage. They can make their pages as detailed as they like. In addition, VIP
members can add photos of their car and their modifications. For a tutorial on using the Garage, click the link on the bottom of this. And don't forget to leave your thoughts and comments in the
member guest books!
Garage
Garage Tutorial -----------------------------
Gallery The gallery is a place for…. Well…. Pictures. It's not just for cars; it's your place for images. You can create your own album and add pictures to it and share them with the
community. You can find all sorts of things to browse, see of our
member's sightseeing adventures with strange pictures.
Right now we've got five categories.
Members Gallery The Elantra Gallery The Hyundai Gallery Other Vehicles Miscellaneous Pics Why not add some pictures today?
------------------------------------
**VIP Membership Packages** Currently we have five options of becoming a VIP… sometimes six – upon participation of our car of the month or picture competitions… in which you could win a vip package!!
· Six Month
Membership $6.99 · One Year
Membership $11.99 · Two Year
Membership $19.99· Lifetime VIP
membership $29.99 · Lifetimer Plus!
$34.99 All of these have more and more options upon each of them.
The good thing is that… the most money you would spend upon going VIP… is $29.99 US.
So, think of those quick fast food trips, morning coffee runs, tank of gas, and dinner out…. You still spend less here going VIP – AND you get more for your money. The time the engine light comes on… and you ask a question and one of our kick ass
members answers it… and helps you out and you save major repair costs by us…. Why not kick some $ back to us? You're still saving! Even if you don't want to be a "active
member" but want to thank us for helping you out…. It leads me to my next topic….
Donations are used to keep the site running. Our
community owner Mitch – well he's a good guy and all but shouldn't be the only one to foot the bill. Think of the costs to run this
community! Hosting, domain name renewals, bandwidth, features and any upgrades and add-on's are all footed by Mitch. Donating even one dollar pays for another day to keep this site up and running. It's a great
community, our
members rock and we know our stuff. Think of being a Hyundai/Kia owner needing help for which you've gotten here before… and you go to Elantra
Club.com and you get a 404-page not found… That one dollar could have kept it running so now there's no site and no help from our awesome
members. Wouldn't that suck? Wouldn't you be kicking yourself for not kicking a buck or two our way?
Serously – think about it.
Donations -------------------------------------------
DIY This is another great underutilized part of our
community. The DIY section is a place to create articles of things you've done – or even things you can do to your ride. Here is a short list of sections within the DIY group. Engine, Intake, Exhaust, Brakes, Suspension, Interior, Audio, Transmission, Painting, Maintenance, Electrical, Lighting, Miscellaneous and of course Videos.
How much oil goes in, how do I put new brakes on, what's the process to put in a strut bar? It's all there!
Have you done something you want the world to see….
EMAIL us and tell us and we'll add it to the DIY zone!!
Get cracking!
DIY -----------------------------------------------
Reviews
Who hasn't used a product for their car? This is an easy way to post your review of anything you've use on or in your car. It's a big help to others in the community. Write those reviews!
Reviews
---------------------------------------
ElantraWiki The
club's wiki knowledgebase covers all aspects of the Elantra and to a lesser extent Hyundai and general automotive topics. Articles can be added to any category by any
member and can be edited for both accuracy and added content. To add a
new article to the wiki, click on a category and then click "New Article". Please help improve the EC
community by participating in our wiki project.
So go wiki yourself now!
ElantraWiki ---------------------------------------
I'm done with the features but what you will notice is that there are a few words repeated within this post…..
Member
· Community
· Club
What I am getting at is this – by coming here – you are becoming a member of our community and part of a club.
Member – Someone who is a
member of a
club or
community. Community – A
community is a virtual community that exists online and whose members enable its existence through taking part in membership ritual.
Club – A
club is an association of two or more people united by a common interest or goal
We're asking all members to be one with ElantraClub. We love helping others out but were an online community. We're asking that we become not just another tab on firefox or a site you visit each day. We would love to have new topics posted each day and replies to each of those. We even have a thanks system. If someone posts stuff you like – just click the thanks button under their name.
So – please fill out your profile, update your information, become more active and help each other out. We're not just another site you visit. We're the elantraclub.com who is a online community with a great family of members.
Get rolling!
As always – if you need more information on features, and how-to about our community –

This site has a handy Map tab at the top. I'd like to encourage everyone to check it out and update it with your location. It's nice to see where everyone comes from and locate members in your area.

The blogs that come with the new software are much improved over the old ones. And I really hope people start getting into them a little more (I'm just as guilty and I'm just now starting to get back into working on mine ). Any member can read and add comments to other people's blogs; VIP's can create their own blog.
One of the cool things is that you can add "custom content blocks" to personalize them. For example, I added one with a pic of my car. You can add anything you can think up. You can add categories to organized your blogs by subject. Actually, once you play around with the blogs, they're pretty fun. It's a good way to get something off your chest or get feedback from other members about things.
Again, this is something that makes EClub a little unique.
Let's have some fun.
One fun tip for our bloggers: You can move the content blocks around by dragging them on your screen.

I've just completed the installation of an new "Thanks/Like" feature here at the club. Basically, you'll now see a "thumbs up" button underneath each post.
If it's a post that's been helpful or if you like the post etc., click the thumbs up "thanks" button and that member will receive a "thanks". These will be listed in their info box in the post area. Feel free to use this post as a test of the system. If it works, the thanks button should disappear for you.
This is a mod I paid to have designed for the board (I did the button lol) and it's the kind of thing that donations allow me to do.
Hope you find this useful.

Benman posting yesterday about not knowing we had all our polls in one place got me to thinking. Yes, the forum with its topics and posts is the main part of the club, but, there's so much more coolness to be found at EC. I'm not talking the ElantraWiki, Arcade, Gallery, Garages, Reviews etc... Hopefully members are already aware of those and use them, where allowed. I'm talking about stuff I've added over the years that makes EC a truly superior place to be a member of.
Note: Not all features are available depending on your member level.
Let's talk about some of the lesser known and used features of the club.
There are the areas that are important that get overlooked, let's talk about a couple of those first:
The Member Map. Here's one of the coolest areas that so few have used. Pin yourself on the world map. It's a fun and useful feature. You can pin your location precisely or just use a nearby area.
Trader Ratings. Even though it's in the Classified rules few do it. If you post something for sale, and it's gets sold, buyer and seller leave feedback, Ebay style.
The Help Files. You can find some excellent tutorials there that will make your time at EC a lot better.
How about one of the most important areas for all members. The My Controls section. This is the most important area for any member, yet few really know how cool it is. Sure you can do basics like update your profile and set club/forum preferences. But, did you know (depending on member level) you can have an "away message" for those times you'll be away from the boards? You can submit videos to be shown in your profile? Add a song to your profile? Manage your friends list? Upload pics directly to your Gallery album? It's a very cool section.
What about My Assistant? Ever use that? Not only can you view new posts, search and check your PM's from one convenient place there's also some awesome info to be found there.
The Calendar. It's not just for Mr. Mitch to post holidays and stuff. Any member can post events... car shows... really anything. You can even post private events that are for your eyes only; did you know that?
Then there are the areas which can really help the community. Things like the "Show all Polls" and "Unanswered Topics" can help EC grow.
For the stats geeks there's some interesting areas like the More Stats page.
Have you ever even looked at the Downloads zone?
Do you look at our member Blogs?
Is the Chat room a hidden gem? In a way it is because so few use this fun feature. Ever tried EClub Sudoku? I thought not.
Did you know you can send E-Cards directly from the Gallery to your friends/family?
Oh, did you know we have some basic club Rules?
When you purchase stuff online, do you go through the Affiliate links at EC Mall? I hope so because we benefit from that and those funds help keep us online.
Bottom line, I've tried to make EC as amazing as I possibly can. To the casual members it's the forum and that's it. To the true EC lovers, there's a lot to love and check out here at ElantraClub.

The "My Assistant" popup box is probably the coolest feature/tool any member has. Just click on the link (next to view new posts) and you get everything at your fingertips. You'll get community stats/info, links to view all polls, see all unanswered topics and our featured topics. But that's just the beginning. You also have a search box built-in, a version of view new posts and your recent PM's all right there. So do you use it and if not, why not?

It's a bit frustrating seeing one of the easiest, coolest posting features not being used properly. One of the cool things I've set up at EC is the ability to put videos from YouTube (and other sites) right into your post. Instead, most people are still posting the YouTube videos as links.
Here's how to do it (must use the full editor, not fast reply or quick new topic):
1. Click on the "Insert Special" Dropdown in the text editor.
2. Choose "Insert: Video".
3. Put the address of the video in the box that pops up and click ok.
Voila... the video plays within your post.

If you go to My Controls > Edit Profile Information you must now answer the simple security math question for any changes to be saved. I know it's a bit of an inconvenience but if you're smarter than a first grader it should be easy enough.

Ok, a couple of issues here...
Sometimes members will use huge pictures in their posts that cause dial-up users and even DSL/cable problems. Also, the new Gallery limits uploads to anywhere from 250Kb to 400Kb depending on your member status. So basically, these huge pictures need to be resized.
Microsoft has a cool and unbelievably simple image resizing tool for XP that's perfect for both these instances. I even have the "Image Resize Toy" for XP in our downloads area.
http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/index.php...ail&f_id=19All you do is right click the image file and resize it (ideally to 800x600 or maybe 1024x768 max). Not to worry, this doesn't override the original file, just makes a reduced size copy.
There's now another free version of this for Windows Vista and Windows 7 available
here.
Anyone with a PC who doesn't have a photo editor should get this simple, free tool.

Do you think we should try to bring back EC C.O.T.M. ?

As you may know, I lost the love of my life on March 6th. My wife Tammy was my everything and being without her has left a hole in my heart that may never be mended. Our daughter Katie hasn't been living at home since she graduated last year. As you can imagine, being alone and facing the prospect of a future without Tammy has me in a deep depression and I'm just going through the motions these days. They say your grief is related to how you felt about your loved one. Well, I loved Tammy heart and soul and she was truly my better half. I am completely devastated.
So, for now, ElantraClub is not a huge priority for me. Please put it in perspective.
Our 7 month long extended donation drive for EC only netted 38% of the goal. Even so, if I can do it, EC will continue online like it has since 2002. I still believe that forums are one of the best places to interact and to receive help for car related issues. I still believe that forums are a great place to talk about non-car related topics, too. I've always wanted EC to be about more than the Elantra only. And no offense to Facebook and other social sites, the fact is you simply cannot compare them to a forum in terms of depth.
Although my life will never be the same and I am coping with emotional pain you can only imagine, look for EC to stick around.

This is one of those head scratchers. They idea of having
a page of online stores that are affiliated with the club (and would earn EC funds) seemed like a great idea. Afterall these are major online companies like Amazon, Ebay, Advance Auto, Best Buy, Lowes and many more. In the beginning, members were using it and the club was getting some operating expense money from the affiliate program. It was a win-win. You're buying something online anyway so just click an affiliate banner and you're not only getting your product, but, are helping your favorite Elantra site.
In the past couple months it seems like this has become a forgotten part of our community. Check out May's Affiliate Mall numbers:
[attachment=4752:maynumbers.gif]
If you're buying something online, give a look at our
Mall first. Click the store banner and Voila! You've just helped EC.

With the information that the next gen Elantra is coming late next year, I decided to revamp the setup at EC.
Afterall, we are a club for ALL generations of Elantras.
Basically I've split the main platform specific areas into three parts...
The Elantra MD/UD Forums stay the same.
I added an "i30 based" Elantra area. This is specifically for Elantra Touring, the new GT and the European i30 hatchbacks.
Finally I've devoted a big area to the older generations .. the J series, XD series and the HD combined.
Each of the three areas will have it's own maintenance, performance, audio etc. forums inside them.
While this may seem more confusing due to more forums added, I honestly think it keeps the information more organized.
And I will add a new area for the upcoming 2016 and up Elantra when the time comes.

I'm having trouble figuring photo albums out. It wouldn't let me delete the album of my old car, saying I had to be logged in (which I was). So I thought I could edit the existing album and put in new photos of my new car. I can't figure out how to remove photos from the album and I've already run out of space so I can't add anymore of the new car.

Hello members
As you may or may not know, today we mark up another year of ElantraClub! I think that's 12 years the internet has been graced with the best resource for all your Elantra needs!
So I thought it would be fun to pose its members these questions:
What brought you to ElantraClub? And,
Why have you stayed?
I originally came here while searching for information regarding changing my stereo. I found the wiki with the wiring diagram and terrific photos to be a great resource. Then I found so much more info!
That was several years ago. After signing up and becoming more involved in the community, I found a group of friendly, knowledgeable people who were more than happy to help. I've pretty much transformed my 2002 XD from a stock A-B car into a completely different beast, and I have the Club to thank for that
I'd love to hear what our community has to say!

A while back I tried a "Post of the Week" feature. It was nice but it had some glitches and I had to remove it. I've added something I think is even cooler. It's called "Featured Topics". Basically I'll post links to topics I think are informative or interesting in a special area. You'll now see a "Featured Topics" link on your member board panel on the board's index page. I'll update the section often so it's a good incentive for you to add some cool topics to the forum. I like the look of the new area too, hope you do as well.

That's been our slogan for a long time. I figured it would cover two bases... First it meant that we cater to all generations of the Elantra. And the other meaning is that we aren't just for any particular age group. All are welcome here. Young and old and in the middle.
Lately, I've noticed an odd trend. For the most part I'm seeing the same core group of posters. It's me, the moderators and a small core group of VIP's. When a new member joins (and posts) all of us are eager to welcome them to EC and to try to answer their question. Yet for the most part these newcomers aren't staying to become a part of the community. I know that all car forums have many "one and dones" (the ones having one question that get the answer and move on) but recently virtually all newbies are one and done.
This is the crux of what we need to work on moving forward. How do we get more of these newbies sticking around to be a real part of EC?
By the same token, it seems like all donators to our current drive are either VIP's or moderators. There must be some non-VIP's who've gotten help and could pitch in the make the drive a success.
I know we can't force people to want to be active in the community. They have to want to be a part of it. I just wonder what your thoughts are as to why we aren't getting a higher percentage of new members here posting as regulars?
Your thoughts. Please discuss.
