I know we have some international members form Europe and Asia and elsewhere. It would be interesting to hear from you. Where you are from. How you found out about the club and a bit about your car and other topics you'd like to discuss. Don't be shy!

Hi guys!
I've been in the form for a couple of day and I like what am seeing. Lots and lots of topics that are interesting. I fine that the DIY section is the most interesting for me. I did a few projects by my self before I join this lovely form, but this has some hard core modifications that are above my level
Anyway, good to see people who are share the same pation as I'm.
Final note: regardless of where I live it's a sensitive subject, so please take that in consideration. Thank you

On the 26th January (Australia Day) We took the
Spirit of Tasmania over to Tasmania.
We brought the Elantra along for the trip as we would be here for week. By the end of our trip the Elantra will have completed just under 2,000km
So far we have seen Cradle Mountain which has some amazing views. There is quite a bit of walking involved, but it has been well worth it. We also have spent the last 2 nights in Hobart. Hobart is unbelievable. The Views are amazing, the people are most friendly and they have plenty of excellent places for food and wine.
The weather has been outstanding while we've been here (ranging between 20-29 Degrees Celsius) The best things about Tasmania is the beautiful views of the country side no matter where you are, the people are very friendly and always happy to have a chat and the fact that there is just over 500,000 people living on the island is a great! It's so much more pieceful compared to Victoria with its exploding population i'm pretty sure coming close to peaking past 5 million.
The funny thing about this place is the amount of J2, XD and MD Elantra's on the road here is unbelievable! I must also add all very well maintained. Barely any HD's for some reason.
So far on our trip my XD Elantra has been excellent with fuel economy. We've been averaging 7.1 litres per 100km and getting about 780km out of a tank. I'm pretty impressed given that the terrain here has plently of steep gradients to climb.
I'll post up photos of our trip and of course the tough XD Elantra shortly

Hi everyone,
You might remember me from years ago, but now I have shifted continents and I'm now British.
I have come back to the Elantra Club now as this week I'm planning on picking up a brand new 2001 XD 2.0L Elantra Sedan with 78000 miles on it.
Currently I have a Hyundai Getz, which I love to drive, but my family needs a second car.
I have noticed there is a severe deficit of members from the UK, and hope to encourage more people to join the site with sticker dropping or whatever.
Anyhow, nice to be back and once I pick up my new ride I'll be putting it in my 'Garage' and putting up a new member profile.

On the way home tonight I saw a funny-looking Sonata. I didn't think there were any new Elantras here yet, so I followed it to the dealership, and what do you know, another 2 sitting right there. So into the magical world known as the internet, and found some
nice specs.-110KW/178Nm 1.8 (147HP/131ft-lb)
-Full-size spare on all models (Active, Elite, Premium)
-Full multimedia on all models (but no sat-nav by the looks of it)
-No i-prefix model name (hopefully it stays that way)
Me gusta...
(also, since I've been out of the loop a bit, anyone know when they first touched-down?)

I don't know if anyone noticed my updated location, but this is where I'll be for the next 18-24 months. I sold the HD to my dad, and the plan is for me to buy it back when I get back to the states. As for a car out here, I may see if I can find myself a nice XD or something along those lines.

I know its not a huge deal for most but sales are not high here and this is great to see sales increasing. I think the Iload and Imax have a lot to do with it, on my travels last weekend I must have past at least 5 - 10 and they have only been on sale a short time, I see them around town allot too, tradesman seem to like them allot.

What is the average price of gas these days in Russia and how much does it vary by area? Ours is probably around $2.30 a gallon for 87 octane. What octanes are available in Russia?

I can't find it anywhere cheaper than around $35 for a box.. which is just rediculous for candy bars..
I had these when I was in guam and FELL IN LOVE...
found a deli that imports candy, but there $2.00 a bar..
grocery store sells for $1.49 ea.. but very inconvenient to park and walk in and stand in line.... half the time sold out anyway..got to find them in the 'asian foods' aisle..lol
How much is a box there, and how much to ship to me in the US.. zip 22030?
i'd take Cadbury "Crunchie" bars if they are cheaper... but i'd prefer Violet Crumble..
THANKS !!! (ITS THE WAY IT SHATTERS THAT MATTERS !!)
ALSO: if you guys still have MILO bars... i could eat those 24/7...

If anyone has visited the Performance Styling Centre website they would have realised that the site has recently had an overhaul.
The site is much more functional and eye catching. Check it out.
I think they are still working on it as the XD Elantra hasn't been added as of yet.
I've bought parts from this company before and would recommend them to anyone interested in aftermarket parts.

The Aussies only got the GT spec Elantra in Australia (Named Elantra Elite) around mid 2003. Before then we only had the GL and GLS Elantra.
Here is one I found on Ebay. They were only available by factory order.

As most people from Victoria are aware, we're on to Stage 3 water restrictions which mean washing cars is not allowed unless it's being done at a commerical car wash.
QUOTE
Hand-held hoses and high-pressure water cleaners cannot be used
any time for vehicle washing. A bucket, filled directly from a tap can be
used to clean windows, mirrors and lights; and spot-remove corrosive
substances.
A commercial car wash can be used.
I really wanted to detail the outside of my car, but since our water capacity is down to 38.7% it wouldn't be a smart idea.
With that being said, How has the restrictions effected your detailing process and what have you done to work around it?
I'm wondering if I should go to one of those self serve car washs now...

I've been thinking about this for a while now, and I've decided to do it. I've been saving money for no particular reason, but I want to spend my saved money on a month long trip to Europe next summer. I'm curious as to other people's experiences with their travels. What did you like? Not like? So far I've found that it will be cheapest (by around $300) to fly in and out of Paris. I would probably land, then go straight to London (I'll make Paris the last leg of the trip, so I don't cut it short trying to get back to fly home). Then spend some time in Amsterdam, then Berlin, Poland, Venice, Rome (in no particular order). There are certain things I want to do; visit a concentration camp, anne frank's house, eiffel tower, louvre, stonehenge, big ben. You know, the usual touristy stuff. Any recommendations?

so.. i was told that the Saturn L300 3.0 v6 has an aussie motor/engine..
i've tried googling and still come up with little to no info on aftermarket parts..
can you point me to any aussie sites that maybe just haven't made it to google's lists yet?
or is it just not an engine anybody messes with?
i "MIGHT" be buying this back from my father since i got a new job and will need another car....
and i'd like the mild 180 hp to reach 200.....
Thanks !

G'day everybody,
This is just a quick heads up, so that nobody repeats my mistake.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to order the interior chrome door handles, and the alloy deadpedal (rest pedal, for you US/CA guys reading).
kspec picture used because dreamka4u is tight and doesn't allow external linking
Unfortunately, when it came time to screw it in, I couldn't work out how it could install to this:
Eventually I decided to read the packaging, and lo and behold, it was a LHD deadpedal!!
This led to some frantic moments in chat, to be consoled by fellow elantra enthusiasts.
I then visited the Hyundai Australia page, and noticed that the Tiburon deadpedal was exactly the same shape as our stock Elantra ones.
I immediately contacted dreamka4u to see what my options were, I was hoping that they could hook me up with the correct one, but unfortunately they said 'because we only sell Hyundai Mobis OEM parts, we cannot do this", not a direct quote, but better english.
They noted that they would grant me a refund -shipping (just sent off the package few days ago will update) and I was grateful.
Then I hit up my local Hyundai dealer, ordered the Tiburon medal deadpedal (PART NUMBER: 32891-2C900) and got it within 2 days.
FINALLY after 2 weeks of effort and close to 12 months of visualizing it, (LOL) it's done!
note: floor mat removed for installation

If only I lived in Sydney I would have been so tempted to buy this poor Elantra. Apart from a few dents it would have been a great run-about if the engine is ok too.
With the my uncle owning a panel shop it wouldn't have costed much to fix up either
