Listen, it's not all about lots and lots of mods. Don't be shy or worried if your list is small. Anyone with any mods can start their page. The fun thing will be watching the updates as your mod lists grow and trust me they'll grow... at least if you catch the modding "bug"

I bought my new Elantra on May 18th 2000 with 4 miles on the odometer. I needed something to commute in that got good millage and at the time Hyundai was the only company offering a 100K mile warranty. Well, 220K miles later, the Elantra had seen me through College and grad school. It has been through every kind of driving environment imaginable on countless road trips. It drove up Brian Head Peak in Southern Utah to well over 11,000’ and has been to Bad Water in Death Valley, and pretty much everywhere else in the western U.S.
At 220k miles the transmission finally took a nose dive and it seemed that it was time to move on. Or was it? Being the sentimental fool that I am, I decided that I’d bring it back to it’s former glory, with some updates as well. Below is a list of things that have been repaired, replaced, or upgraded. I’m pretty much done with the interior. On the exterior, in addition to what has been done already, I’m going to have the paint re-done with a fresh coat of Sandalwood and I’m going to upgrade the wheels. I like the stock look so the 2 replacement sets I’ve narrowed the selection down to both look stock but are larger wheels. One is the 15” alloy on the 01-05 Elantra, and the other is a 16” alloy by Eagle wheels that looks almost stock and would fit the Hyundai center cap.
Enjoy the photos.
Before
This was during a snow flurry in the Napa Valley (3/2006)
Interior
Stripped out interior and completely covered interior surfaces with Dynomat Extreme . This took well over 15 work hours and countless cuts and bruises. Always wear gloves
Steam cleaned the carpet while it was out
Replaced factory speakers with Pioneer TS-A6964R A-Series 6"x9" 3-Way (rear) and Pioneer TS-A1304C A-Series 5 1/4" Components (front). I’ll take more photos next time I have the door panels off. The Pioneer tweeters fit perfectly into the stock tweeter location.
Replaced previous head unit with a Pioneer AVIC-X920BT double din navigation unit.
Installed Kansas City Custom’s Leather Interior Package (replaces cloth seats and door inserts with leather) If anyone wants to buy the original cloth covers I have them in pretty good condition. E-mail me. Also replaced the worn window buttons and interior door handles with new ones.
Recarpeted the rear package tray. The old carpet had faded to a pale green
Put in new factory floor mats and installed Elantra scuff plates
Put in a new center console and console storage bin
Removed old tint and replaced with new 3M 50%
Exterior
Replaced worn headlight enclosures with new ones and installed factory Hyundai Avante fog lights in the factory locations. The American Elantra does not come with mounts behind the fog light covers so custom mounts were made. Lastly I installed matching PIAA 4100k bulbs in the headlights and the fog lights.
Replaced rusty windshield wiper arms with new ones
Installed Avante valve stem covers
Mechanical
Installed new struts, new engine mounts, had the transmission rebuilt at 220,000 miles. The original engine is still running strong.
As the Elantra looks now
Feel free to reply with any questions or comments.

I'm new to elantras but was wondering if anyone has swapped the instrument clusters from a sedan to that of a touring elantra. I want to know my avg mpgs and I like the touring clusters better. Just wanting to figure out if it's going to be a PITA or if the wiring is pretty much identical on the two. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys. So, I decided that it's probably about time I start my own mod list here. I'll post pictures along the way as more things are done. She's a 2013 GLS with the preferred package. Check it out and let me know what you guys think. I'll break it up into two sections, and update them both as things get done.
Current mods:
Short ram intake, Sickspeed oil cap, and PCV breather.
10,000k DDM Tuning HID's in the headlights, and Sylvania Silverstars for my highbeams and DRL's.
Aluminum shift knob, and DOJO lambskin suede shift boot. (taking the console off and getting the automatic shift knob off was a real pain, but totally worth it.)
White Knight black lugnuts, and body color valve stem caps.
Autobahn, and SickSpeed tuning decals.
Upcoming mods:
Turn signal mirrors from a Limited.
Navigation and stereo from a Limited, and full component speakers with a sub in the trunk.
19" Konig DTD Glide's powder coated white wrapped in Toyo rubbers.
Whatever else comes to me

2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS
Automatic
2nd owner
Bought at 40k miles in October of 2009
Currently at 90.7K miles
Current mods:
Clear corner headlights with chrome bulbs.
Clear sidemarkers.
Clear doormarkers.
Flat black grille.
Tint 55% sides 35% rear (Legal limit in VA, but thinking of redoing it and going darker.)
Debadged.
Redoing third brake light mod in a different fashion soon
NGK wires/Iridium Plugs
Shorty antenna.
19.2mm (Green Dot Tiburon Rear Sway Bar)with Moog endlinks.
Currently on the way:
Waiting for the shop to call me about scheduling a day to fix hail damage. ):
Next on the list (unspecific order):
OEM Fogs (asap)
Coilovers by (hopefully) the end of May.
SRI
LED switchover.
Red LED gauge cluster.
HID conversion.
E-brake/Auto shifter mod.
Rear disc swap.
Lowering springs.
Motegi rims.
Taillight blackout mod.
Rear Window spoiler/Trunk spoiler.
Lip kit of some sort.
Black matte vinyl wrap? (Summer)
And before anyone says anything, I know I need rims. Pretty badly. But considering I am attending my third college, I will continue to be a broke college kid and those plus a paint job will have to wait. Until I get a job while at college, there isn't much I can do but cheap mods (Thus just flat blacking the steelies and hubs).
Before the shorty Antenna.

I brought in January a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited with the Technology Package in the Allure Red with Black Interior. The dealership called this car the hardest car to get because the Red Allures are made in the Korea plant not in Alabama. It also has an all black interior and has all the options available. I always name my cars. I named my 2012 Alexander.
Here are the mods that I want to get done within the next year but this requires working all the time while I'm in Pharmacy School.
This list is not all exclusive and in no particular order. As I complete mods I will post a picture and bold the mod on the mod list.
1) Trunk Spoiler The MD's do not come with spoilers from the dealerships at all. So added one.
2) 8000k Low Beam HIDs (I'm currently having issues with the install)
3) 3000k Yellow Fog Lights
4) Drag 31 Flat Black with Red Lip Rims with Pirelli's Nero or Bridgestone Pole Positions (Not sure which tires to get. I had the Pirelli's before and I loved them)
5) Lowering Springs
http://www.shopbtr.com/servlet/the-250/H%2...-Elantra/Detail6) Window Tint (5% on the rear window, 15% on the backseat windows, 20% on the front windows)
7) Rear Diffuser
8) Rear Glass Spoiler
9) Flat Black Top and Bottom Grills
10) Carbon Fiber Vinyl Roof

Spoiler!
Spoiler!
I was asked on another forum to make a pros and cons list. So here it is for your viewing pleasure.
Pros:
-Adjustable levels on the front heated seats. I only had 1 level in my 08.
-Rear heated seats. All my friends love them. However there is one down fall. The only switch for the rear heated seats are in the back. So if you don't tell whoever was just sitting there to turn them off then they get out, they will turn on at the next start up and not turn off. The front ones you can't leave on. I think the difference there is the switch. The switch in the back is a switch that stays on if the switch is in the down position. The front heated seats are just buttons like a stereo button, as soon as you press it, it comes back to its original position. There is no lock for the heated seats in the back either. If I was a parent, I wouldn't want my kids pushing the button all the time and having it turn on. I would want something like a window lock on them.
-Bluetooth!! Love it! I do not need any cords in the vehicle at all, which is so nice.
-The wiper blades. Yes I know this is a weird observation but here it goes. The drivers side wiper blade is a size 28!! Its huge. So it cleans almost the whole windshield in one swipe. The passenger wiper is a size 13 but apparently a 14 fits as well. Since the drivers side wiper blade is so huge, it puts the wiper blade over lap line over more towards the passenger. This equals better visibility for the driver.
-Automatic headlights = amazing!!
-Keyless ignition/entry. My keys never have to leave my purse.
-One touch power windows both way, not just down.
-The Auto-Dimming Mirror w/Homelink
-The control panel is very nice and easy to use. It is all very close together which is nice.
-The lower center heating vents. I didn't think I would like them but they are closer to hands when they are on the steering wheel. Quite nice when you are touching a freezing, leather wrapped steering wheel.
Cons:
-Gas mileage is no where near 40 MPG!! I drove 400 miles and got a max of 35 MPG. I drove 65-70 mph the whole way because it was within the 1000 mile break in period plus I wanted to see that big 40 but it didn't happen. I'm currently getting 24 MPG and I'm at half a tank at only 150 miles. It has been a pretty mild winter up here in Vermont. I say this because I know cold weather is a factor on gas mileage however but it shouldn't be this bad. I also don't understand why it's getting the same gas mileage as my 08 was all around with a smaller engine.
-Smaller gas tank. 2012 = 12 gallon tank. 2008 = 14.1 gallon tank. I guess they made it smaller to help get better fuel economy.
-The sound system is crap! It suppose to be the upgraded 360 watt system with the external amplifier. I swear it sounds the same as, if not worse than my 08 and my 08s sound system was stock (172 watt).
-The Speed sensitive volume control is always turned on but yet to this day, I have yet to hear a volume increase during acceleration.
-The front seats are much more comfortable in my 08 then in the 2012 on long drives.
-Worse stock tires ever! They are Grand Touring Hancook H426.
http://www.tirerack....del=Optimo+H426 Check out the comments there. All reviews are MD drivers say how horrible they are. The car doesn't seem to stop as quick but I'm going to contribute that to the crappy tires until I get new ones. Then I will revisit this subject.
-Hyundai no longer sells spare tires with the Elantra. They do this to help get better gas mileage.
-It also shifts weird. Let's see if I can explain it. I have the shiftronic option but the majority of the time I leave the car in auto. However let's say I just started accelerating. Nothing extreme. Until I hit 40 mph because that's the speed limit. The car will sit in 5 gear and run 1,800 rpms instead of shifting into 6th gear. To get the car to run lower rpms at 40 mph, I have to switch it to manual and push the gas in a tad more and shift it manually. After that at 40 mph in 6th gear it runs at 1300 rpm where it belongs. Also when I brake I can feel it downshifting. In my 08, you couldn't feel a thing.
I know this con list looks big, but I do love the car all around. Most of the time in life we pay more attention to the negatives then the positives.
So I have been brainstorming some ideas about Alexander. You all know I love the whole Red and Black thing.
Here's what I love about this MD (the last red MD):
1) The dark window tint
2) I believe that's a carbon fiber roof
3) The Rims (I will be putting my Drags back on)
4) Blacked out bottom grill
Here's what I don't like:
1) The top grill with the trim on around it painted to match the car is ugly. I wouldn't get that painted. I would leave it flat black.
2) Chrome handles
Once I get the black bottom grill, I will add these.
http://kspec.com/list.php?ac_id=241&ai_id=3384These headlights are sick. Strike that, this grey MD is sick!
Ideas? Dislikes? Agreements?
I forgot to add that I'm currently looking to see if the new 2013 Elantra Coupes 22.0-mm diameter front stabilizer bar will fit the Sedans.

Well, F me! Left the dealership without an important safety trunk mod...A SPARE TIRE, JACK & LUG WRENCH!
Why does there always have to be a catch that has to piss you off no matter what nowadays? Seems like something that SALES PEOPLE SHOULD MENTION. Now, do I want to up the 335.00 for the dealer kit to have full size spare, jack, lug, foam thing and lock down bolt or do I wanna crawl around thru junkyards and piece something together and end up with donut and other crap not meant for this car? Yeah, my bad for not lifting the trunk floor when checkin it out, not researching enough on a forum that I don't have a car for yet but mostly DEALERSHIP FAIL for not bringing it up. I would much rather have ordered up a kit while buying the car and rolling it into my loan vs. me now having to up the coin outta my pocket to have a complete unit had they mentioned this. Bummer. Still lovin the ride. Rant over.

Here's a direct link to my garage with tons of updated pictures.
http://www.elantraclub.com/forum/index.php...tem&CID=291Done so far:
What I have that needs to be installed:
What I want to do:
*Back window tint
*17" rims + good reliable tires
*Light weight pulleys
*Air intake that won't throw a CEL or fry the ECU
*New front speakers
*New HU
*Better aftermarket battery

Well with more and more mods on the way, think I could go through and create one of these threads to track things a little better.
The garage is doing good though.
Alot of the things I've been doing lately are half-done, mainly due to weather, time and sometimes money.
Driving the car LOTS doesn't give much time for relaxing and doing some mods, but moving into a new place with the g/f should stop the constant weekend travels 4-5hrs round-trip. Will also give me underground parking for easier mods.
So the list starts off like this....
06-23-07 - Car Purchased - 86000kms
06-24-07 - Lifetime EC Subscription
07-15-07 - eBay SRI installation
07-15-07 - KDM 3way Washer Nozzles installation
07-28-07 - Rear Strut Bar installation (Mussa?) - got it off ebay
07-25-07 - New clutch, covered by 30day problem-free
08-02-07 - Clutch Slave Valvectomy
08-02-07 - JVC KD-G430 deck installation
08-02-07 - Blue Clock attempt
08-25-07 - start to a custom fiberglass sub enclosure, to fit the free 12" Infinitys I scored
08-25-07 - Infinity 611a amp purchased
09-02-07 - hack-job to the existing sub box, to at least get some sound hooked up with the sub and amp
09-22-07 - Timing belt, water pump, accessory belt swap - 97000kms
10-15-07 - Rain Visors installed
12-13-07 - ElantraClub Decals hooked up - show that pride!
03-01-08 - Shifter Bushing installation - 115000kms
03-09-08 - PCV Line Filter - 116000kms
04-23-08 - CosmoRacing Short Shifter
05-01-08 - KJB Shifter Base Bushings
06-28-08 - Fiberglass sub box installed and working nice
07-03-08 - Tibby 19mm rear sway bar (66000KM pull)
09-08-08 - ARK shorty antenna
12-13-08 - KYB/Eibach spring/strut install
12-13-08 - R1Concept slotted rotors/pads installed on front
03-17-09 - Fumoto oil drain valve
04-24-09 - Front lip spoiler
?-?-? - CarPC.... constantly changing
The rest seems to be more maintenance/repair ...
The realistic list goes like so: *in no real order
- Window tint
- Front grille (Saturn's old one)
- Engine ground wires
- running out of ideas it seems
There it is...
Day 1 at my parents after taking both cars there to park the Fiero (phonecam)
Day 1 - after picking it up, driving 600kms, and getting a new battery
Rear strut bar
JVC deck
Fiberglass subbox start

Fiberglass subbox almost completed!!!
Timingbelt change, SRI modification - sorry dad
Clean - addition of rain visors - just before the storm
New PCV Line Filter (oil catch can)

Tibby rear swaybar with new endlinks

So after about a year of thinking of a replacement car for my Elantra ive decided that no car would be worth the money when compared to my Elantra on my current budget. So, that being said its time to get serious with the modding.
On October 15th ill be ordering me 4 Konig Zero in 15" rims.
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/f...&vid=010835There after hopfully getting my dad to pay for the windows to get tinted.
Next is sound, I love dub, wub, and all other forms of bass. so some subs are in my near future. Im going to keep brain storming ways to get the subs mounted in the back without having to put the rear seats down in order to enjoy them but also not block my view out the rear door either.
Next comes at Xmas, ill be ordering me this bad boy grille. in the black of course.
http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/pro...46729f47196d25eThen form there on its a cold air intake and saving..... Lots of saving... what for you may ask? Some form of turbo/supercharger.
Any way wish me luck guys, ill be updating everytime i add or change anything to the car.

I'm probably going to post more details soon, but I've got a multi-year project almost at completion. The project is to convert my 2002 Elantra GT hatchback into an electric vehicle.
I chose the Elantra because it was rated "best bet" for a used car in its category by Edmunds.com, and because it had good overall characteristics for an electric vehicle conversion. The hatchback in particular is great, because you still have room in the back for stuff even with batteries added in the back. Plus, it's a bit more aerodynamic with the more gradual slope in the back.
More info, videos and photos can be found at
http://www.youtube.com/HyundaiElectra,
http://tinyurl.com/hyundai-electra, and
http://www.evalbum.com/2083. I might get around to posting some more when it's done, which I hope is soon.
The biggest thing now remaining is for me to modify the rear suspension to carry the extra 700 lbs of batteries. Yep. Crazy, huh? Well, I've looked into it, and it seems like the best option is to order custom springs. Do any of you have any other good options? I tried to find air shocks for the Elantra but wasn't having much luck, other than very high-end options usually bordering on if not exceeding $1K.

Hey guys, I have an intro thread going on here but I thought I would make a new one to show the mods I have done.
The car in question is an '07 stone black HD Elantra SX sedan.
It was a new car I purchased last year, and was equipped with a bodykit and 17" Hyundai Alloy wheels.
A real eye catching car, hence why I bought it!
The car went for the first 7months of its life with the only mods being painted brake calipers. It was my now ex wifes car. Lets just say she didn't take the best of care of it. So, in our split I took it back (I am paying for it!) and decided to start making it a bit better!
Here it was in the Dealer's showroom:
And this is after I got the dealer to tint the windows:
A short time later I bought a set of lower coil springs for it...lowered the car 30mm.
And then, a bit after that the calipers were painted, it was my then wife's choice of colour...
And that is the way the car stayed....until I got it..hehe
Once I got the car...the first thing I did was to swap out the 17's for a set of 18's.
I also ordered a new Roadruns grille too, I have yet to receive that part.
While I was ordering parts, I secured a set of LED tail lights and some black bezel headlights too:
The Headlights are also fitted with a Bosch HID conversion kit as well.
The interior didn't miss out, I fitted a new Pioneer in dash 6 disc DVD unit, with 7" touchscreen. It doesn't quite fit the OEM cutout, so I have a new Double Din mounting kit on its way from the US as well.
Yesterday I decided to pull the stock headlights apart, and I ordered a new set of LED front indicators for them, while they are apart I sprayed the bezels black. Here in Australia the headlight are a little different, in that out "parker" globes are in the bottom of the main light reflector. I wanted to keep that feature, a feature the new lights I bought do not have. So, when they are done I will probably sell off the black ones I have now.
So, that is it for the moment, I will update here with new stuff that gets done!
This weekend I will be repainting the calipers and disc hats, so I'll post that up when it is done.
