Hi all, Anyone have a clear idea of how to remove the shift knob on an auto GT? I've got all the trim up and popped off the entire bezel but the leather boots is still attached to the shifter. Im having trouble removing g the knob to get it off completely. There is a metal ring under the knob that is above the boot that doesn't seem too budge and another piece under the boot only visible after pulling up the whole console. No visible screw or clips and neither seem to unscrew.
I have a 2010 Elantra Touring, want to get a performance header for it, but cant find one for a 2010 Touring, also need a header that has upper and lower for exhaust sensors, can I use a Elantra performance header from a different year on my Touring, will it bolt up, and not having a cat on it will it throw a CEL, let me know, Thanks.
let me know what you guys think. I don't like chrome and somehow did not realize the chorme bits when i looked at the car at the dealer. After 2 years of living with it I finally took actions
Has any one PLasti Dip their OEM GT rims? I did my emblems and front chrome piece on my 2013 GT and it looks good just wondering if any one has done their rims and if so how was the turn out?
What's up, I have Elantra touring SE, I already have a magnaflow Muffler for it, but wasn't sure what size pipe to go with, stock size is 2inch, should I go 2.25 or 2.50, or is 2.50 to big, let me know, thanks
i bought my elantra gt last week and im already want to mod it a little bit i saw the euro/kdm have led tail lights will it fit "plug and play" on my canadian gt
Considering adding additional padding to the center counsel. I have researched how to remove the sliding counsel lid ( remove rear panel by prying with blade and that will provide access to the screws holding the cover ). I have tried that but the seam is very tight and I do not want to damage the panel. Hyundai must have a special tool to remove this panel. I was thinking that you could hook the bottom of the panel at the floor next to the carpet and pull, releasing the clips. But , again I do not to risk breaking something. Any suggestions ?
I've been looking into some window visors for the GT but I can't seem to find any that I like. Weathertech makes a real nice low profile set but they aren't available for the hatchback...yet.
These aren't fat and bulgy like the OEM ones or the sets you find on eBay. My friend has a set on his Mazda3 and they're really slick. They fit like OEM but are way more stylish.
Lets show Weathertech there are people that want them! Please take 30 seconds to fill out this product request page (you have to manually input the car because they don't have the GT in the drop down menus): http://www.weathertech.ca/service/product-request-form/
I think I want the get a set of the mud guards for my '13 GT. The Hyundai ones run about $40-45 but appear to be really low profile. Looking on eBay I found some cheaper on for about $20 and appear to be a little bigger. For the record I'm not looking for some obnoxious look. But this only appearance. The oem stuff just seems a waste.
Well, I've been considering plasti dipping my wheels and possibly some other parts of the car like the emblems. Still undecided what all I want to do. So my question is, how many cans would I need to plastidip my wheels? I probably wouldn't do the whole wheel black, but assuming I did how many cans do you think I would need just for that?
Also, anybody plastidip their calipers? I know I've used specific caliper paint before, but I was curious whether plastidip would work or if there was some reason it wouldn't hold up well?
Now for any creative minded folks out there with photo editing software if you have any great ideas for the stock wheels I would welcome any suggestions! I have a few ideas in mind, I just don't have any software that would allow me to put it into an image form. Paint just doesnt work very well! Here are some stock photos.
I got my eyes on a set of Kosei K1 in that size locally The price is amazing but I'm afraid it will rub on the fenders I'm not dropped or running any spacers
tires are 265/45/16
calculator i found on the web says wheels will stick out 2 inches more, not sure if the Elantra Touring can handle that
So this fall I picked up a 2009 Touring GLS Sport from a local dealer. Came with the stock 17" alloys...nice looking, but heavy at 24lbs each if my research is correct. Also came with bald, original Kuhmo tires:
Given the winter-ish conditions up here in Canada I decided to get a set of Hyundai-supplied aftermarket alloy rims and Hankook I*cept EVO performance winters:
Hell of a combo. Great performing winters.
The OEM wheels and tires ride really harsh...I don't mind the ride of the 16" wheels at all, and they look pretty badass. I need new summers, so I have two options:
1. Put a set of Continental ExtremeContact DW's on the 17" OEM alloys and keep my winter setup as is 2. Put summers on the 16" rims and sell my 17" rims for replacement next fall with a more winter worthy setup.
My thinking is that the OEM 17: alloys are heavy, and not worth their weight and extra tire expense. Those gunmetal rims probably weigh about 6-8 lbs less each and the ride definitely doesn't suffer.
It was embarrassing for me to hit my key remote twice to be notified that I locked my 2013 Elantra GT successfully. The horn beep that sounds was just too weak and sad sounding. This is my first Hyundai, so I started looking and noticed that the horn has been upgraded due to previous model year complaints. I didn't see how this was an upgrade, because it just didn't sound good to me! It was then I found out the main horn is completely different from the "alarm" horn, or the beep/notification you get when you lock your car with your remote, or when the alarm goes off.
After reading through posts, I decided to install the FIAMM 72112 Freeway Blaster Horn in place of my "alarm" horn. It's not perfect by any means...I wish it were a shorter "meep meep" instead of a "beeeeeeep". But it is a step up in my opinion from the original. For $20, I can't complain.
So I like the stock wheels on the GT, but came across these which I found rather interesting. Quite frankly, I think a gloss black would look good too in lieu of the CF print. I would be curious to see how they hold up though in regards to heat from the wheels and rock chips. I wish they had a full side profile before and after pic so I could get a better sense as to how these look in relation to the car.
Just playing around with Gimp and came up with an idea of what has been floating around in my head since I've introduced myself to the GT. Please let me know if you love it or hate it, and anybody that is good with photoshop/gimp/paint/etc. please submit any changes you would like to see or even something completely different.
Hello folks, I'm new to the forum but have been a Hyundai owner for eight years. I just purchased a 2011 Elantra Touring GLS with manual and would like to get a cargo cover for it. This is the pull-back cover that fits in behind the top of the rear seat and covers cargo in the back. Wondering where I can purchase either a new or used one?
