We were going to get the wife a 2011 touring but we both thought they were ugly and were not feature rich. Especially for $21,000. So today we went to Kia, looked at the Soul - SHE fell in love so we got it. Picking it up tomorrow @ $18K leather, alloys, sunroof, all interior cargo trays and carpet stuff. Pretty good deal. SHE likes it, thats all that matters. Trading in a 2002 Accent GLS Sedan for $1k which will drop it to $17k but not till we hand them the title. The accent has 102K miles on it.

I quite like the Soul, only wish it had the 2.4L engine or more power in general...

My daughter bought a 2011 Soul+ back in October, and absolutely loves it. She liked it better than the Forte, and of course she couldn't get interested in an Elantra because "dad has one".

Only gripe I've heard in her 4 months of ownership is that the mpg is a little disappointing. I believe it's rated 24city/30hwy, and she averages around 25mpg. I can average 30mpg in my Elantra anytime, even when I lived in the city, but I'm an easy driver. Plus, the Soul has an older 4spd auto tranny, and my Elantra has a 5sp manual. If they drop a 6spd auto tranny in the Soul (like the newer Hyundais have), that should really boost its mpg. Maybe in a year or two smile.gif

I agree, one thing I didnt like personally was the look (boxy) and the 4 speed. sad.gif but market drives innovation!!

Look at the old elantra - vs the new elantra - like night and day.

Cars are so exciting now. It's awesome to look at the differences!!

To me those are semantical differences. I'm talking more like the Forte's 2.0L which has 156/144, or the 2.4L which has 173/168. Throw either of those in the Soul and I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a candy bar.

YA! The Soul is on my short list of cars that I may buy! The sad thing is that the new Elantras are priced out of reach!

Not sure if it qualifies as an "old Elantra", but my 2005 GT hatch still looks pretty good to me, and it's coming up on its 6th birthday. Looks are important, but I'm also in to what's underneath. Engines/drivetrains will continue to get better and better, but I plan to keep the Elantra for another 8 or 10 years, or until it pisses me off (not likely) - whichever comes first.

heh, working on it. We've got too much ice up the ying yang. This weekend were going to grab the ipod cable from the dealership and then bring it for a short wash and I'll grab some pics then or when the weather is a little better. So much crappy snow and ice I hate it. I also owe the club better pics for the rims I put on my HD. I'm slacking.
