Mark it on your calendars, this year's annual PIG ROAST!!!! will be Saturday, 8/20/11, in Ypsilanti MI. This is the event that Sarge was going to kick off his whirlwind U.S./E-Club tour with last year until logistics got in the way (and I understand *that* particular problem has been sorted). There will be:

Lots of hot, roast pig
Lots of cold keg beer
Music by Lagerhaus5
Bounce house
Fun and frivolity of all sorts
Camping for those too partied-out to find their way elsewhere (the house is on ~1.25 acres, so lots of room)

Hope Sarge can make the trip this year, and maybe we'll get some other MW E-Clubbers out to partake of the swine-ly goodness.

Feel free to contact me for more details.

yea, so far - count me in... I've got all the papers lined up now. Don't think I'll do the US/EC tour though this year, already used up most of my vacation time to go to Mexico earlier.

Talked about it lastnight, and Laura may be coming too.... even though she doesn't like pork. She did ask whether you need an opening band though smile.gif

There's a ferry from Milwaukee to Muskegon, and from there it's I96 to US23 and you're practically there. Nothing easier. smile.gif

Hey, we'd absolutely LOVE to have more bands come out to the party... for one thing, roasting a pig is an all-morning affair (and I usually miss out on most of that... I just line up the purchase). So if there were another band to play before the pig gets cut up (a job that falls to yours truly) it'd make it that much easier on us. If she just wants to sit in, that's cool too. This is a very laid-back party.

I've made the drive from Ann Arbor (next to Ypsi) to Madison and it's actually quite pleasant as well, provided you catch Chicago at the right time. Have to say that seeing Six Flags Great America when it's closed and dark is just a little weird, though.

Okay, boys and girls, here's the update you've been waiting for:

The 2011 Pig Roast will be Saturday, August 20th at 5301 Crane Rd. in Ypsilanti, MI

Festivities should kick off around 4, although an earlier arrival time might allow for all club members to get parked together for a mini-show.

There will be:
Hot roast pig (duh)
Ice cold Labatt Blue
Trampoline
Bounce House
Live music featuring Lagerhaus5, with possibly 1 or 2 other bands (still pending)
Opportunities for visiting musicians to sit in with any/all performances
Party site is on 1.25 acres and they allow camping, usually with a bonfire when it gets good and dark

Please bring a dish to pass. This is the 5th year we've done this, and it's always a great time. Feel free to PM me with any other questions you might have. There is also an event page on Facebook, which has another link to an online signup of what other people are bringing. Hope to see a bunch of y'all from the Midwest come rolling on in for some serious rock and roll good times!

If you've got camping gear, they're on 1.25 acres. There's usually a lot of people that stick around for a bonfire and camp out there overnight with some sort of breakfast the next morning. I think my wife's already got 2 people staying with us, and we're a half-hour drive from there.

I do have a tent you could probably borrow, and some other camping-type gear. Let me know, so I can try to remember/find a way to cram it all in the car.
