So after getting the wife's car back on the road, she went and put gas in it. Now when she has a full tank, I can smell gasoline in the garage. It also started throwing code P0441. Would the purge valve cause me to smell gas, or is it a leak in the top of the tank somewhere?

Yep sounds like a over fill. But she never tops it off. She stops when the pump stops. Guess I'll have to look into how to pull *that* apart as well. Sigh... -------------------- |

check the cap, clear the code, and wait for it to come back on.
then worry about it. but from what i can read, it may be the " emission system purge flow check valve" or "EVAP Purge Control Solenoid Valve" and will be under $100, and only a few minutes to fix. it's on the firewall or by the throttlebody most likely . you can also spray down all the emissions vac lines with soapy water and check for leaks. http://www.1aauto.com/1A/PurgeVentEvaporat...CFYmf4Aod8Q8A2w -------------------- 2014 Veloster Turbo - racecar

check the cap, clear the code, and wait for it to come back on. then worry about it. Did that. It came back on. Looks like it's under the car I go. Hopefully I can find this valve easily... kiatechinfo.com doesn't have nearly the nice pictures that hyundaitechinfo.com does. -------------------- |

Looks like it's under the car I go Above the car you go... hopefully PCSV - The valve is actuated by the purge control signal from the ECM and controls fuel vapor from the EVAP Can to the intake manifold. -------------------- |

Where did you find that wonderful pic? The Kia site didn't have that one... unless I'm very much a doof (which I also wouldn't rule out).

Alldata I have coverage of all makes and models 1960 to 2010 And now it makes sense. Something I will have to take a look at when the wife gets home from work. Hoping I can do an oil filter change/brake slide pin change while the baby's down and the 4yo is at preschool. Wishful thinking, right? -------------------- |

You do know about the Kia service site too, right? It's just like HMAService but for Kia.
