I have a 2013 Elantra coupe. Back in the spring I was waiting to make a left turn. There was a car hauler in front of me. For whatever reason the driver decided to back up. He backed into my car causing damage to the hood and headlight. When I got the car back from the body shop everything looked great. However since I got the car back the remote start does not work and when you lock the car now the horn no longer beeps to let you know it is locked. I'm looking for ideas on how to restore these functions.

Just an idea, but maybe your hood latch sensor isn't closing properly. The alarm needs to see all doors, trunk, and hood closed to arm (the beep when you lock it via remote). If your alarm isn't arming, maybe your car's interlock circuit isn't closing. Check the hood closed sensor (probably on the right side, near the hinge) and see what you can do to ensure that it's being closed properly. You might be able to adjust the hood hinge, or you could shim something to try to help it close.

Hood switch does sound like the most likely culprit.

Thanks guys. You were exactly right. I checked under the hood. The hood closed sensor is on the right side but up front behind the headlight. when they installed the new hood the little rubber bumper that pushes the sensor down was missing. i took one from another spot on the hood and now everything is working as it should. I will need to buy a couple of the little bumpers to put where they are supposed to be.Thanks for the help.
