Replacing fuel lines = leaking Replacing flex pipe = aluminized steel = replacing pipe.... It looks like theres also a PCV issue / vacuum leak.. we'll see. -------------------- |

First gen Sedona? My apologies. The body/structure is literally a tank. The engine.... yeah. Umm.... I have nothing good to say about that old XG engine.

My wifes friends van FML!
Sedona's suck! 10 codes but as of right now im down to 3. Evap/Cat/O2S. Evap, not sure havent gone into diagnosis. O2S When replacing the front flex I pulled the sensors out and put them in the new pipe - noticed one of them was dinged on the tip pretty bad... WTF? (Gotta be that one) Cat, I think might be caused by the bad stuff going on but not a real true failed cat... not sure yet. (P0431.) The codes being read before I started were - P0431 P0171 P0174 P0456 P0350 P0300 P0305 P0303 A couple others as well but didnt write them down. As of now I cleared the codes, i'll give it back to the wifes friend and let her drive it till the codes come back and go from there. By the time friday rolls around when I see her I'll have the two 02 sensors from the store who had to order them which should fix (in theory) the o2 errors. Argh - nightmare. Last oil change? NFI! Last trans change? NFI Sparks? NFI Filter(s)? NFI Ahhhh neglect pisses me off!!!! -------------------- |

Skip the EVAP code for now as the misfire condition will cause vac to be messed up... Skip the CAT warm-up code as it reads from the already-troubling oxygen sensors... Replace the O² sensors and see what happens. Cylinder 3, 5 and radom misfires could be a lot of things... I'd look under the hood at night to see if there's any arcing of plug or injector wires, look for any mouse-chewed wiring or vac lines, check spark plug condition and probably change the fuel filter & clean/purge the fuel rails, but would wait until the O² sensor replacement helps first.

I agree - this is what I've done so far - I dont want to throw parts at it because thats stupid but most of this stuff was dead. Some background - engine kept overheating - turned out to be the rusted out coolant lines that run to the rear - there's a TSB -I replaced the coolant pipe a few months ago but the woman who owns it - ran it overheating and would pull over when the light turned on saying it was too hot. She'd keep filling it with coolant. (epic fail) (I'm sure the engine bay heat caused all this mess!) So far.... Replaced 2 coils - they were dead - so I replaced the 3rd just because. Replaced the spark plugs Replaced the intake Replaced a section of the fuel lines Replaced the wires Replaced the flex pipe Mass Air Flow sensor is crap too - ran like crap - pulled the maf... bang ran like a charm - (new maf on order) Future work when the parts come - (on order) MAF 02S's - both downstream PCV I think the cat is a benign code like you said - caused by other stuff. There's no more misfire codes after doing the coils/wires/plugs. Only thing left for codes is o2s/evap/cat but I'm hoping the fixes awaiting parts - should take care of it... SHOULD.... FML. I asked the woman who owns it yesterday - um... it's an 2002 and has 150,000 miles... some body rust.... skys the limit for spending for repairs but thats up to you. [was hoping she'd say f-it] NOPE... looks like I own this project till I'm dead. -------------------- |

Vinnie... Has she been paying you for the parts? I sure hope she doesn't stick you with the bill.

Sounds like you got a huge project on your hands. Hopefully it goes well and isn't beyond repair. Your just like me in that cuz you can do the repairs your wifes friends expect you to work wonders with crap. It looks like you may have got this under control. I say you OWN this and if something doesn't go right you suck and if it goes great you are a hero.
